Is Leopardfur close to anyone in RiverClan other than her late apprentice? She seems like an unpopular deputy, but does that extend to friends/family?

Honestly it’s very interesting to me how Privetclaw despises Graystipe with every fiber of his being, but is also one of the (many) RiverClan cats who like Firestar despite him being best friends with Graystripe.

I had just finished book 2 and I didn’t like the ending. I felt Tigerclaw motivation very lazy, unfounded, confusing and overblown. Killing for such small stuff although this dedication excludes Fireheart a fact that makes his motivation feel a lot weaker at not going full deep. But most off all why he believed so hard that he was right? In the canon is clear clan culture is xenophobic and he is the bigger one but here there isn’t explained even if the world contradicts and “he’s crazy” is lame.

Something I’ve been thinking about for a while- Leoparddawn seems unpopular with her Clan (and even outside of it based on Snowpaw and Rookstar’s reactions to her) but it’s mentioned Oakclaw suggested her. Is it because thanks to Bluestar he’s come to earn an appreciation for the more strict and rigid personality that the rest of his Clan lacks? Or was she his apprentice, or is it something else entirely?

Ever since y'all introduced the new religious/worldview of the clan cats with the presence of Horoa, Rohkar, Suriin and their correlating halls, I’ve always wondered if an apprentice getting blessed by one of the Three, say Rohkar but excelling more in a field where they would count as being able to get into Horoa’s wraith repellent group. Could their Rohkar blessing (or even Rohkar himself, purely out of pettiness ) hinder the choice of getting into Horoa’s hall after death? Also I’m incredibly excited to see how y'all handle the Tribe of Rushing Water and Endless Hunting (if they are kept storywise), being as the two were basically just reskins of the original four clans with some rank differences and StarClan.

I must say as someone who is starting to read the rewrite, and read some of the complains online about it(and wrongly in the Wc forums), i thought i would be weird out by it, but the rewrite caught me out of guard in a positive way, i really adored to read the posts about matriarchs, family trees discussioon and parentage(i’m feral for it, and really enjoy reading stuff about it), and the genetics, while not 100% necessary for me to enjoy a rewrite, are a fun inclusion(specially since i like to study cat genetics) I’m starting to read the third chapter of book one after reading almost all of the matriarch posts, i’m enjoying it so far, so i’m here to give some compliments and saying sorry for judging too early(sorry if it’s hard to read, it’s 4 am in the country i live, and i didn’t notice the time going when i started).

It might have been answered before but i have 2 questions of different types? While reading chapter 28 of A Kindling, i wondered, who are Ravenpaw and Greypaw’s parents? If it’s spoilers you are not comfortable giving, you can ignore this question. And the seconde one is which cat/family you had the most difficulty figuring genetics for them? Like a impossible family in canon like say canon FireSand having Leafpool or BrackenBright having Yellowfang for example.

Hi! Same anon that started to read the rewrite theses days, i just finished reading the first book(yes, i read most of it in one day) and i’m starting the second one, and i have come with more praise! I adored some of the concepts that you added, such as the numbers, the three blessing apprentices, and how some of the new characters interactions(Brindle and Speckle scolding Lizard for mocking Fire, Lion and Fire stare down, and the elders, god, how i love the elders), i love how the clans united against Brokenstar at the end and i loved that even in a war situation, Firepaw stuck with his morals and talked with Rainpaw to help take the kits back. Also i found the new family tree interesting, some changes(like Dust and Raven not being siblings, i kinda always expected that to be one of the least changed things in rewrites)surprised me and others were expected(aka Cinder being separated from the Frostfour and adding Snow to that), but i must say one of my favourite changes was Patch and Raven i love them so much, i would die for them. I will be starting chapter 5 of Burning hearts tomorrow(since it’s again 4am to me here), but i have 2 questions here, in relation to Broken and family stuff. During the gathering with Fire little group, it is mentioning that talking about a dead cat, even if they are hunted down from the existence(from what i understood, sorry it is not actually this), would kinds bring them back? Like if they remember this cat, the spirit would ressurge or something similar? What would happen in that scenario? Also, the family thing, Blackstar mentions that Dipperthroat, Rainpath and Badgerpaw are his nephews, Badgerpaw is Fernshade’s kit with a who that i currently forgot the name off, so if it’s not too much to ask, what would their parents be? Also sorry, for this massive ask, i’m kinda really active right now after ending the first book.

Hi! Same anon that started the books some days ago, and i’m almost crying. I currently stopped at chapter 30 of Burning hearts, and i must say, i’m emotionally destroyed, the way Silverstream’s death is described by Leopardawn is one of the most horrifying things i have read, and is even more sad the fact she didn’t die at peace, with her getting her clanmates lashing out at her, not even having comfort after birthing(which is already hard enough with how pregnancy can be in a cat, even with the fact she tried to starve herself, and difficult birth) and them not even noticing her dying until later, even not being on screen, it was pretty gruesome, i must say it was impressive that you guys got me with just a few lines of dialogue. Besides the death scene, i must say i had fun reading this book, the Tigerclaw investigation is so fun to read and Fireheart trying to defend him is so heartbreaking knowing that is him causing the deaths, i love how you changed Cloudkit reason to stay in the clans, even with the change in the graphic novel, i never really liked the canon reason, so the fact that he got to the clans because Rosy was worried about him was a cool change. Also, i loved Goldenflower explaining genetics to Fireheart, it was funny to read due to me relating to me trying to tell my friends cat genetics and them not understanding a thing, one of my favourite scenes. I will stop rambling right now, since i have a lot to things that i loved in this book, but i will not say since this ask is already big at it is.

Yk I just thought about how absolutely PISSED TC would be if/when Greystripe has a litter with Millie in Iterum… he already had kits- in RiverClan. He’s out of the gene pool. And, assuming Millie is accepted into TC, here’s this brand new clan member with clean and fresh genes for the community. And then Greystripe goes……. and fathers a second litter. ESPECIALLY in an AU where Greystripe /is/ Willowpelt’s son and Willowpelt had Soot, Sorrel, and Rain, and Sorrel already had kits it’s like. Great. Awesome. The gene pool just got extra muddled because now there’s like, an entirely new and unexpected litter in the Willowpelt line that the matriarch has to keep track of. God bless, Greystripe would be a social pariah.

I remember canon having a weird pivot to the culmination of the first arc being “Firestar beats Scourge only because he’s an Atheist™” which was pretty out of left field and inconsistent with the good vs evil fire vs tiger plot line in general. I know that the redux is far more focused on the effects of Firestar’s kindness on the clans, and I doubt you would pivot that hard in your last book, but I do think it’s interesting to think potential conflicts because of how much more fleshed out religion is in the clans! In canon it’s more like “special cats get special attention and powers and we listen to whatever they say and that’s about it,” but here they have actual myths, cultural relevance, and gods! It makes me wonder if the Aulmir cats have any religion themselves— we know that kittypets don’t, but a larger congregation of cats is more likely to have superstitions and stories of their own! It seems unlikely to me that the Three are /truly/ only concerned with the clans considering how many cats live across the world… How could the religion of the clans interact with that of other groups? Much to think about!

💌
How many books you want to do for each arc? And until what arc you want to adapt? Like, you would stop at PO3 or OOTS?

💌
If your version of warriors were canon, there would be SO many kids making characters that are like the champions of Horora, Suriin, Rokhar, or even all three and that is AWESOME Also every single one of us would have made a ShadowClan seer growing up because of the edginess of a cat wasting away following the supernatural
published 2 weeks ago -
💌
(sorry I had this thought immediately after sending the last ask!) OH AND THE AMVs/MAPS!! Everyone would animate Tigerclaw’s execution, Whitecloud and Yellowfang’s death, Firestar’s Horoa dream, Bluestar being saved from wraithood by Oakckaw, Ashpaw and Brightpaw in classic Swiftpaw style… And based on what little hints we’ve got of next arc, it sounds like there’s gonna be some BIG supernatural stuff that would also be huge to the animators!! You also know that we would get so many shots of the sky and the moon/sun/stars morphing into a vision of the three!

For permanent apprentices (one with severe developmental delays, for example) does their mentor stay the same throughout their whole life? Or does it periodically switch between different cats to give the mentor a break?
published 2 weeks ago -
💌
If a cat switches clans, how long does it take before they’re given the full protection of their new clan? I was reading the “Even at first?” line from the beginning of A Kindling and wondering how much of that was due to his being apprentice aged and the protections that the code offers. For an adult that joins the clan, is there any sort of probationary period, or a process that they follow before they become a full member?

re: the previous ask, does that include if only an elder or two remembers the cat? i’m sure their words or respected, but it might feel strange for a queen to change the name of her kit for “no reason.” Side note, how long does it take for the names of the kits to be revealed to the clan? I know sometimes kits fade before they’re even named, and it’s a while before they come out of the nursery, so i imagine it’s somewhere in between

Was looking through the prefix list out of curiosity and realized some fun facts. 1, Big and Boulder are the only prefixes that are specific to larger cats 2, the name with the most requirements is Warbler, but specifically Warbler on a grey-brown cat, as it’s the only prefix listed with three requirements, those being small, pale, and a light belly And 3, Squirrel, specifically also under the grey-brown category, is the only prefix with the ruddy undercoat requirement (Although, as I was looking, I realized Worm isn’t a viable suffix, which makes me a little sad since Worm, in a name, is always fun to play with) These arent complaints or anything, just things I thought were fun facts lol

Kicking down the door again- I sent a question about worm a while ago and seeing it brought up again has made me lock in like the seagull meme There’s approximately 30 species of worms in the UK Some can be have a whitish coloration, and some species have a reddish-brown coloration instead. So that could be a ticket into it. But I think last time it fell into the same reason Mosquito-, Midge-, Fly-, or other small gross bugs have a name place. But I will tell you a potential bug name as well, so the UK actually has a singular Tarantula species, and while they are called Purseweb Spiders, potentially Tarantula- could be used 🤔 potentially

The Worm discussion gives me the mental image of a RiverClan queen fiercely trying to argue for her kit to be named Wormkit, she NEEDS to have a W-bug name to match with Weevilkit, c'mon, if you squint he KINDA looks like a worm, just let her go with Wormkit, she’s not naming him Wigeonkit are you out of your mind?? She has a THEME here. Then when a hairless kittypet joins the clan and they’re named Wormpaw she just glares angrily at the leader for the rest of her days for denying her Worm child

For half-clan kits, do the matriarchs get together to go over the lineage of the father’s family (or the mother’s in a rare instance where she gives the kits to the father)? Like, say Bluestar gave her kits to Oakclaw to raise; would Goldenflower then go to RiverClan’s matriarch and tell them that there’s a history of mental illness in Bluestar’s family and so the kits probably shouldn’t be paired up with a cat who has a similar history? Was Teaselfoot a contender for -belly and if so, how come Bluestar/Morningstar gave him -foot over -belly? Did he choose? I was rereading the series and he really strikes me as someone who does his best to keep the mood light and cheerful and he seems much more easy going than the rest of ThunderClan, save for Cinderpelt. That being said, I know there’s been a lot of talk about how hard it is to tell when a WindClan cat is a -belly, unless you’re squinting or really familiar with WindClan behavior, but is it also hard to tell when a ThunderClanner is a -belly? Like they’re the most militaristic clan and they don’t really joke around much- to the point that Fireheart has a hard time recognizing when RiverClan jokes with him. Obviously since we have a ThunderClan POV, we can tell, but is it hard for outsiders to tell when a ThunderClanner is a -belly?

thinking about darkstripe this morning and how kind of tragic it is that his misery is entirely his own fault. if he, at any point, had enough self-awareness to acknowledge that *he* was the one pushing away his friends and family and isolating himself from his own community, i really do think the clan would’ve been willing to support him if he made an effort to do better. fireheart would’ve been first in line to advocate for him. it’s hard not to feel a little bad for the bastard, if only because it’s kind of sad how set he was on sabotaging the good life he could’ve had at every opportunity

I gotta say, Moon Rising is probably my favorite or second favorite WoF book. Moon is a fantastic POV character and her powers are just… Fun, they’re incredibly fun as shown in POV, and the way they’re written is fun. Arc 2 is also an improvement on Arc 1 imo overall? But Moon Rising in particular I really enjoyed.

My younger sibling has just discovered a wings of fire obsession as you started this book club, so im spending a lot of my time lately talking about these books and chars, haha! Something I keep thinking about, as an adult reader now, is the quiet horror of the knowledge that the SandWing war and prophecy were manipulated by the NightWings. The Talons of Peace truly believed in peace, and wanted to end the war, and that was used against them to further the goals of a tribe they barely even knew. Countless dragons suffered and died for a war that never needed to happen (Six Claws has become my favorite character after reading his winglet - I can’t stop thinking about this)

Which clans do the researchers know the most and the least about?

Funny to think that the researches must be more familiar with the codebreakers. Cats sneaking around during the day aren’t usually getting up to anything good.

I recently saw a post talking about deputies and how they are not taught anything to become a good leader. (https://www.tumblr.com/skyclan-funny-name-squad/786462831023390720/i-think-its-so-funny-how-little-the-deputys-get?source=share) No learning of all ceremonies, nor how to project their voices to be heard from all during a Gathering. Is there any sort of learning experience for the Redux deputies, at least in normal circumstances when the Clan ranks are not being decimated by dogs ?

When I saw about Tinyclaw, it reminded me of a funny brief idea I had of a character named Volepelt or something. Because when they were little? THEY WERE TINY. But growth spurt hit later on and they became absolutely MASSIVE. Volepelt never felt the need to change their name, either. So a cat from another Clan hears about Volepelt and imagines a small little cat but then they see this titan of a cat approaching and go “BY HOROA’S TEETH WHAT IN THE FU-”

(I’m the same anon that asked over the apprentice’s blessings possibly hindering them from entering the other halls and expressing excitement over the tribes in the rewrite!) Finding out the allegiances for StormClan were posted made my day but realizing that they’re AFTER Cloudstar’s journey?? Which means, at maximum, StormClan happened 6 years before Mapleshade’s vengeance??? On it’s own, this development isn’t necessarily a problem, and I’m glad they remembered and used RiverClan at the time known leader, Birchstar (Darkstar II’s predecessor), as a reoccurrence to help establish that, yes! This should fit quite nicely into the lore and timestamps already set by the original writing team (: !! BUT NO!! Noo homegirls ): This is one of the worst!! times!! to set this story!! I worked on a timeline mapping out the clans’ known past for my pleasure and ended with the very first event in the timeline (as shown on the Warriors wiki) being sometime in the early 1870’s (without care for the knowledge that the ancient tribe’s permanent sleepover with the rogues on the forest territories happened in the 1920’s, sue me, but with 15 known cats as ThunderClan’s leader as of Firepaw’s joining?? Math isn’t mathing out unless at least 7 of those cats didn’t live too long), meaning Thunder would have made ThunderClan around late 1877 and last mentioned being leader in late 1882, just as reference. Including all the known leaders shown in the successions, I’ve come to find that at minimum we would have unknown ThunderClan leaders around 1915-1917 (taking into account the differences in the years leader’s would rule by when and what other leader’s they are mentioned with and what stories preceded others in the ultimate guides and giving them a max of 10 years because maybe someone else got Tallstar’s longevity whilst others also mauled by a dog or two), and 1922, and an unknown SkyClan leader from 1911-1917. SkyClan is impervious to my knowledge for StormClan, so I didn’t care much for it, and having Stonestar of WindClan just die for Galestar to rule during this time would work, since he was last recorded to have been leader in late 1908. So a good century (from Firepaw’s first appearance into the clans) was my best hope for StormClan’s existence because it would’ve both enlightened a not yet recorded time in the clans and very well could have explained why these cats were faded/not remembered (this time would have also been a good 20 years after the “Cats must remain loyal to their own clan” rule was added to the warrior code, so at best two generations have passed and could have still been fresh on their minds maybe??). BUT NO, WITH THE KNOWLEDGE THAT BIRDFLIGHT, GORSECLAW, AND SPOTTEDPELT, WHO ARE VERY MUCH KNOWN AS CLOUDSTAR’S FAMILY BEING IN THE THUNDERCLAN ALLEGIANCES???? STRIPESTAR WAS REDSTAR’S DEPUTY AND OAKSTAR’S PREDECESSOR, WHICH????? Noooo homegirl, we have a good 6 years between Redstar and Oakstar, which is a good time for both of them to rule without an inbetween leader, and while I am still happy to get more knowledge on the past, I would’ve hoped it was in the more distant past, y’know? A time that we the readers don’t have a lot of documentation for, possibly whilst the code could have still been under development (which, in itself as a parallel to these new series’ story arcs where the code is being reevaluated, could’ve been a great pairing and insight into why the code was made as it was, and why generations later it doesn’t hold up anymore but whatever, silly kids won’t know the difference). Maybe I’m simply bothered by the fact that we keep adding stories and characters that could disrupt what we already know in the story and break the lore even more, but can we just once write about leaders we do know about even if just by name?? And stop adding more generations to a timeline that, in canon (to Firepaw’s joining in early 2003), isn’t even a century old yet?? Sorry it’s so long, but ranting whilst the knowledge was fresh and problems this could pose just helped

The thing that is literally fucking crazy to me abt the prolouge is all the clans arguing abt who is to blame that SkyClan is gone and not coming back with SkyClan cats (birdflight + her 2 kits) sitting RIGHT THERE. if I was Birdflight, I would be so pissed. Like. Especially with everyone now arguing about who should get hunting rights in what little remains of SkyClan’s territories.

It just occurred to me how adorable it is that Mosspelt knew Stormpaw and Mintpaw were going to their first Gathering, and she thought “Who would be the best cat to have them introduced to?” and she immediately thought of her friend in ThunderClan, and told Mistfoot to ask after Fireheart. Like, not sure if that was the intention there, but it’s fun to imagine that Mosspelt wanted her adopted kids introduced to her ThunderClan friend.

What do the Clans think of hoses and sprinklers, if they ever encountered them?

Apologies if this has been asked already. Since all the queens try to avoid naming their kits with the same prefix as another cat (to my understanding), what would happen if at a Gathering, say Windclan announced a Robinkit, and Thunderclan also had a Robinkit to be announced? Would one of the queens change the name of their kit? Or would the leaders just hope they earned different suffixes?

Follow up on the two Robinfurs question, if one were to end up being a terrible cat, would the clans just be like ‘you’re the only Robinfur we acknowledge’ to the other one, or would it still be committing the taboo of saying a cat’s name who had become nameless?

Adding more onto the two Robinfurs chain, would having the same name that a now-nameless cat had be enough to request a prefix/name change if they wanted it? Let’s say that whatever the nameless cat did was bad enough to directly impact the other Robinfur’s clan, and isn’t a Tigerclaw situation where nobody outside Thunderclan actually knows what happened.

I’m just starting my first re-read of A Kindling, and I remember how before I read it for the first time, I’d gone through all the background info on tumblr, and I was worried that the story would be hard to understand with all the changed/added lore. But you did such a great job with naturally introducing things through Firepaw/heart, that I only rarely get confused by the mention of a name or whatever. Tldr: you are great at introducing new elements to the Warriors universe in an understandable way. Just wanted you to know.

I’m thinking again about “what if leopardkit lived”. Specifically, the recent asks make me imagine that, if leopardkit became a -paw and met cats of riverclan, most of riverclan would make jokes along the lines of “did we switch leopards at birth?”

I was playing with a warrior cat generator and got “"hates kits, excellent mentor.” So basically…the cat equivalent of an excellent secondary school teacher who’s worse than bloody useless when you put them in front of primary-school-and-below-aged kids. 1)I thought that would amuse you 2)Can you imagine that cat happening to be the one finding a lost/abandoned kit on patrol?

Did the 3rd or 4th reread of Charred Legacy again and noticed Mintpaw yawning during the Gathering- I know NOTHING is a coincidence here so my theory is Mintpaw’s disinterested in warrior life and is gonna become a seer named Mintfeather- as a nod to her OG name AND parallel to Aspenpaw being similarly uninterested in going to the Gathering because dreams of being a Matriarch. Either that or Mintpaw is just Like That ™ Probably wrong here but wanted to throw my hat in the ring here

Boobytrap would be a funny warrior name (technically legible, booby is a bird), and also interesting Because a booby trap, straight from the oxford dictionary: -an apparently harmless object containing a concealed explosive device designed to kill or injure anyone who touches it. OR -a trap intended as a practical joke, such as an object placed on top of a door ajar ready to fall on the next person to pass through Idk there is a character in that name, using both definitions interchangably

For prefixes, how about Broom- and Groundsel- for yellow/golden cats? Scotch broom and common groundsel are plants native (I’m like 99% sure) to the UK with yellow flowers. Groundsel- could maybe also apply to a white cat because of the pappus (plant term for the fluffy seed head found on dandelions and other weeds).

I can imagine the clan cats (primarily RiverClan) would be absolutely horrified to encounter an invasive wels catfish. Those things could DEFINITELY swallow a cat whole. “The river spirits are real and boy are they mean. And ugly!”

Wraith asker again! Thanks for answering, but please! Please I beg! Tell me Lionface isn’t a wraith! I’ll feel so bad I feel like Pine would be fine, he didn’t seem miserable enough to become a wraith, and after reading up on wraith lore, I think he would most likely wander after being trapped in that house. One more question if that’s allowed, Has Horoa ever tried to rehabilitate a “bad guy” before they became a wraith, instead of killing them? Like ‘Hey you were a jerk, but imma give you a month to straighten up before I curb stomp you.’

After Spottedleaf died, did anyone in StarClan explicitly tell her that she didn’t have to? Imagine a seer from Rokhar’s hall giving her the flattest look imaginable. “We sent you that vision as a warning, you ungrateful twit.”
